I am honoured to be a JET Ambassador as it would give me the opportunity to give back to a charity that has helped me so much throughout my cancer journey.
I have recently begun a career in journalism after joining All Island Media at the start of this year. This was inspired by the work I have been doing the past few years to raise awareness and advocate for Islanders with cancer after being diagnosed with thyroid cancer in March 2023 at the age of 24.
Despite now being a year into remission, I have been left with lifelong health complications which require ongoing treatment, therefore to ensure I have been able to return to work and begin finding a "new normal" after life with cancer, reasonable adjustments have been put in place for me, such as a four-day work week and the flexibility to work from home when needed. This is all down to the help and support from JET.
Thanks to JET, I am now in a career and role where I can use my voice and platform to help other Islanders who have been through a similar journey to myself and bring these important topics to light.
