As I grow older and see more of the world, the more I value inclusivity and that feeling of belonging. What I love about JET is that the work it does promotes these two things, but it does so much more as well.
It promotes sustainability for the environment, in employment and in the local economy. If more employers understand what JET does, it has the potential to touch every sector in the Island.
I first met Dean when I was working for a large charity in the Island, and he really brought the work of JET to life for me. At the time, I was chair of the Institute of Directors Equity, Diversity and Inclusion sub-committee and the focus was on neurodivergences. Dean and I spent time together on this topic and when he said he wanted someone to join him to walk the Virtual London Marathon in April 2023, I said I would. Within the first hour or so, we'd covered music, families and politics and we didn't stop talking for the whole 26.2 miles!
